Kumihimo Beading

Kumihimo is the ancient art of braiding that goes back to 550 b.c.  These braids were used as decorations for religious ceremonies, to hang banners and to hang knives.  As you can see there a million uses for the braids you can make using the kumihimo technique.

There are many ways to explore this technique.  And this is one the many classes we teach at our store.  You can use a marudai table or you can do it with the simple kumihimo disc.  It is a very relaxing way to create beautiful cord to showcase your special beads or you can use seed beads in any color combination that pleases you to create beautiful lariats or necklaces that you can combine with your special beads.
